‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ Release Date, News & Update: Will It Be Prequel Or Sequel? New 'Juicy' Details Revealed

Rockstar's "Red Dead Redemption" has been stellar and fans couldn't help but anticipate the next game. Now, there are speculations that the release date will be announced during Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) this month and it's going to be "big."

Something Big Is 'Red Dead Redemption 2'

MobiPicker said that there's strong evidence that the release date will be announced during E3 2016. Although the highly anticipated game will not be released until the first quarter of 2017, its release is highly talked about in the gaming world.

Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive, hinted at the release of "Red Dead Redemption 2" during an interview with their CEO, Straus Zelnick. In an interview with MCV, Zelnick said that the company will be attending E3 in a "big way."

Currently, Take-Two doesn't have anything big aside from the ones coming from its 2K Games arm, which is set to publish Civilization VI, NBA 2K17 and Mafia III. On the part of Rockstar Games, three DLCs for GTA Online are currently lined up. This led many to think that the "something big" that Zelnick may be talking about refers to "Red Dead Redemption 2."

Prequel Or A Sequel?

Meanwhile, there are two sides of the rumor circulating "Red Dead Redemption 2." Some say it will come as a prequel while other say it will be a sequel.

According to The Bitbag, the next game will be titled as "Red Dead Renegade." Instead of a sequel, it will be a prequel that will feature John Marston, the protagonist from the previous game. A map for the upcoming game allegedly leaked, pointing to a time before the "Red Dead Redemption" happened.

Now there's another speculation, albeit not heavily discussed. "Red Dead Redemption 2" might actually be a sequel and players get to play Marston's son in this game. So fans are torn between wanting to play John Marston again or playing as his son.

Whatever case may it be, fans are surely excited for the next "Red Dead Redemption" game. Fans will surely watch for its release date announcement at E3 this June. Which do you prefer?
