After being the underdog for quite a while, Google Chromebook laptops have finally beat Apple's Macs for the first time ever. A new report reveals that Google Chromebook laptops got the upper hand when it comes to sales during the most recent quarter.
Google Chromebook laptops outsold Apple's Mac
The Verge reports that manufacturers shipped over 2 million Google Chromebook laptops including Dell, Lenovo. and HP, while they shipped just around 1.76 million Apple's Mac. "Chrome OS overtook Mac OS in the US in terms of shipments for the first time in 1Q16," IDC analyst Linn Huang said. "Chromebooks are still largely a US K-12 story."
One of the reasons behind the success of Google Chromebook laptops in the US is their popularity in school. However, the success and demand of Google Chromebook laptops outside of the country has yet to be known since there was no report about it yet.
Why are Google Chromebook laptops worth buying?
Google Chromebook laptops basically sold almost nothing in 2012 but became the fastest growing laptop product. So what is the allure of these Google Chromebook laptops that they practically beat the most in-demand Apple's Mac?
One of the biggest reasons why it's worth buying a Google Chromebook laptop is because of its pricing. Google Chromebook laptops are considered as the budget laptop of today, making it easier for the budget-conscious to purchase Google Chromebook laptops without robbing a bank.
Huang argues that it's not only because of the low cost that helped Google Chromebook laptops beat Apple's Mac. According to CNN, he noted that its success goes back to its high demand among schools.
"Cost is but one reason they are winning there," he said. "Google has also done a fantastic job building out a compelling management console that makes these devices easy to deploy and manage in a school setting. I'd argue, that has been the biggest driver of their growth as opposed to the low price."

One thing that's very different is the operating software of Google Chromebook laptops, this is where some people might be turned on or turned off by what Google offers. Google Chromebook laptops do not run on Windows but it runs on their own develop software called Google OS.
Google Chromebook laptops doesn't have programs, specifically exe file extensions, that you can install. Everything is initiated through apps that you download through the Google store and then actions are performed through Google Chrome.
