Once again Sony's PlayStation 4 proves who the king of the game console world. The PlayStation 4 have picked up where it left off from the start and outplayed its closest rival the Xbox One and the unpopular Nintendo Wii U console.
Since the start of this year (except for April where Xbox One outperformed PS4 and Wii U), based from GamesBeat's data, PS4 has outsold Microsoft's Xbox One and the Nintendo Wii U by large margins.
In an official statement from Sony, the Japan-based game console giant expressed their thanks and appreciation to the continued support of the PS4. Sony also thanked their partners that worked with them all the way that made the PlayStation 4 number 1 in the North American region.
They also took pride with their commitment in delivering the content line up with the game's first party exclusive release like Until Dawn and third party titles such as the Madden NFL 16, which also outnumbered the sales of the Xbox One release.
Sony also cited the success of the Call of Duty: Black Ops III, which marked a milestone with their new partnership with Activision. To add, they wanted to carry on the momentum of their solid performance through the release of Destiny's upcoming expansion The Taken King, which will be officially dropped on September 15.
PlayStation 4's success comes even if the console had a limit support on game exclusivity but what made it happen for the Sony's game console are Batman: Arkham Knight, Madden NFL 15, and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
Although Xbox One is defeated, it doesn't mean that they're actually doing badly in the market. As a matter of fact, GamesBeat pointed out that the Microsoft made game console is slowly picking up, by 26%, from last year's performance.
Xbox One also picked up when Microsoft decided to drop the console's retail price to $350 for its 500GB variant that comes with a game.
At this point, Sony can't really be complacent in the coming years, considering the fact that Xbox One is closely trailing behind, while Nintendo will be launching its newest game console the Nintendo NX, not to mention the emerging Apple TV who just created a buzz when it was officially released.
