The martial arts-based MMO will arrive this winter in both regions, and will offer a closed beta this Autumn. The game is currently available in multiple Asian nations, including developer home South Korea and China.
"Blade & Soul is one of the most anticipated online games by Western consumers", commented John Burns, senior vice president of publishing at NCSOFT West. "This is a tremendous opportunity to bring one of the most successful and fun online games in Asia to our Western audience this winter and we can't wait to deliver this extraordinary and distinct gaming experience to millions of new players across Europe and North America".

The press release says Blade & Soul has reached "tens of millions" of players since its launch in the middle of 2012 with its attractive combination of fast-paced combat and "Far-East martial arts". In the game, players must fight to avenge the death of their fallen master in a classic "Wuxia" storyline. Wuxia translates to "martial hero", and is a broad genre of Chinese fiction concerning the adventures of martial artists in ancient China. Blade & Soul combines this genre with what the developers describe as a fusion of Asian cultures, which explains the appeal in South Korea, China, Japan, and Taiwan. Keep an eye out for more announcement details and specific launch dates.
