You can watch the game's debut trailer below, which was released by developers Creative Assembly earlier today. The title will take the popular Warhammer property and insert the world into a new Total War game.
Total War: Warhammer was expected eventually due to an early mention of its name. The official Total War art book has a quote from the developers that references Total War: Warhammer as an upcoming title--this was back in January, well before today's announcement. The Creative Assembly had not commented on the game's existence in that time despite the obvious mention.

The debut trailer is a fantastic cinematic showing off some of the game's factions and setting up the narrative. There is, sadly, no gameplay--though the trend of CGI video to over in-engine graphics to reveal a game should not be surprising given the industry trend. We see multiple races from Warhammer's fantasy fiction doing battle in the trailer, along with narration to provide some context. Those who are already fans of both series are likely in for a treat with this tie-in, and those who like one or the other might be getting a great new experience. Total War hasn't ventured into using other properties before, but this could be the start of a new trend.
