The opening cinematic for Warhammer 40,000: Regicide, the upcoming Games Workshop adaptation from developer Hammerfall Publishing has been released and it evokes a particularly chilling atmosphere.
Heroes Of The Storm Launch Date Finally Announced
What it does not provoke, or even hint at, is the fact that Regicide is, in fact, a chess game. Which is absolutely brilliant, albeit wildly misleading. If you ever wanted "The video contains a mysterious transmission sent from the remote world of Hethgar Prime. The frontier world is in peril, and the feared warriors of the Space Marines are dispatched to investigate. On arrival, the Space Marines find themselves up against unexpected adversaries in the struggle to liberate Hethgar Prime and investigate the source of the ominous transmissions."
That sounds far more intriguing than a power struggle between Indian royalty, where the original game of chess was inspired from.
You, Too, Can Craft A Homemade BB-8 From The Force Awakens!
The cinematic is closely tied to the game's Blood Angel campaign, which features story-based missions as you explore the dusty outpost world where you quickly discover that you are not alone. The Blood Angels campaign is available to those who purchase the Early Access version, which begins on May 5. The campaign will be rolled out over several weeks during the Early Access campaign, as well as additional chapters and Orkish adversaries to combat with.
The game will launch on PC first, with a mobile version expected to hit later this year and it will feature full cross-platform support, allowing you take on enemies from around the world at any time.
