Like HDTV (and, briefly, 3DTV) before it, 4K resolutions are the hot trend right now in TV technology.

The issue with 4K has largely been price (as well as a lack of live 4K content), but Vizio is coming to the rescue. Via IGN, the budget brand is dropping the price on its fairly new line of televisions, with the M-Series 43-inch model coming down all the way to $600--much cheaper than you can get most 4K sets. More information about the M-Series is available on Vizio's site, where you can compare model features and price.
Vizio is not among the high-end brands, which may turn some consumers off by default. The brand is intentionally price-friendly and cost-conscious, though, while generally maintaining a good level of quality. A drop in performance or quality from more expensive brands should be expected, but it's one of the more reliable budget brands and the sizable price cut alone may be worth it to you. The 50" model was originally $999.99 at launch, and a $600 43-inch TV is the cheapest 4K TV on the market.

As mentioned, the other issue with 4K televisions is that there simply isn't very much content for them. You're likely better off waiting until more programs or live streaming services pump out 4K content, otherwise your extra resolution is going to waste. Cable is largely still only available in 1080p, and even top streaming services like Netflix have only slightly begun to adopt 4K. Still, if you're in need of a new TV and have been waiting to go in on 4K technology, this is a much more affordable option.
