Destiny Update 1.1.2 News: Next Patch Will Let Players Lock Items To Prevent Accidental Deletions

Destiny's Next Update Will Let Players Lock Items To Prevent Accidental Deletions

Destiny is a different game than the one it began as at launch, with a number of patches, updates, and a content expansion changing the game's structure over the past half year.

Bungie is planning more updates that fix some long-standing and relatively new problems alike, changing the game again for the dedicated player base who has been suffering from the same issues for a while. The newest Weekly Update blog post has outlined yet more changes we'll see in the 1.1.2 update.

The main addition will be that of an item lock ability, which is aiming to reduce accidental item deletion. You might think this means players careless deleting the wrong item (which probably does happen), but Bungie specifically cites "errant pets and over-enthusiastic children". This is both unfortunate and amusing, but an actual problem if players are losing exotics and legendaries accidentally.

"If you want to protect something in your inventory from being dismantled against your will, just lock it down," says UI Engineer Daniel Hanson of the coming feature. "Highlight the item with your cursor and click down on the right thumb-stick. It'll be safe until you unlock it."

Apparently, a seemingly simple fix like that became quite the complicated affair, involving difficulties maintaining the locked state on the servers when transferring to the vault. There's plenty of other info to read through about what's coming next, added to what we already learned about punishing idle players and fixing the Raids.
