Scans from the latest issue of "Famitsu" magazine have revealed some details for the newest character for the upcoming Dead Or Alive 5, a taekwondo master by the name of Rig. As of yet, very little is known about him, save for his name and fighting style.
The Dead or Alive wikia contributors have some theories. "Details on how Rig will play as a character have not been revealed yet, however it's well-known that his martial art Taekwondo emphasis on kicking techniques, so he might be a character that is best at striking rather then at holds."
Rig will be the first Canadian character in the Dead or Alive series, and the first one to use Taekwondo as their martial art.
So far, Rig has been the first new character announced for DOA, although it's possible more are on the way. A March forum post on NeoGaf containing a list of character names for an alpha version of Dead or Alive 5 may indicate another new character. Among the familiar names was a brand new name, Mila.
Gamers can expect several characters from the franchise to return, including mainstays Zack and Leifang, as well as guest characters from the Virtua Fighter series.
Dead or Alive 5 is set to be released this year, September 25th, for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
