Super Evil Megacorp dropped the latest update, 1.2, to their wonderful mobile MOBA (MOBAle?) game Vainglory last night. The new patch brings a wealth of communication updates, balance changes and yes, a brand new Hero.

Celeste, the daughter of the other new Hero, Ardan, enters the fray. She is a mage character who is best used as a lane control type. Super Evil Megacorp advises "Start Celeste in the lane and fight from the furthest edges of battle." Which to me implies "glass cannon", as all mages generally are.
"Celeste commands the stars, drawing upon their power to overwhelm opponents. Her star formations help keep enemies at a distance as well as finish them off as they flee."

Nor is she simply just the daughter of Ardan. Her story and his are woven together, and there will be another hero of a similar nature - perhaps Ardan's son, or Julia, the dead wife - who will join thebattle soon, as well.
Celeste's big finisher is her Solar Storm ability, which "launches a storm of stars that travel across the world. The lead star passes through all enemies it hits, dealing crystal damage. Trailing stars collide with the first enemy they hit, dealing crystal damage in an area. The number of trailing stars increases each time Solar Storm is upgraded. Deals reduced damage to non-heroes and does not damage structures." Good for control and taking care of creep.
Players can now communicate with their teammates more effectively. The game now offers up more concise speaking options, a great improvement considering the size of the screen and lack of keyboard that most will experience the game with.
Matchmaking has also been improved in the order of fairness. Be prepared to wait a little bit longer in matches to find an appropriate team of opponents.
