Azeroth and Draenor are currently down for maintenance, but when they return, there will be some exciting new content courtesy of patch 6.1 in World of Warcraft.

The changes are many, with an emphasis on class and item balancing for the brass tacks of daily living and grinding in-game. But as for the bigger picture stuff, the patch will continue to retell the history of Draenor and the first war of the Dark Portal. Blizzard has posted several story spoilers about the adventure ahead.
In the original timeline, the orc assassin Garona was successful in murdering king Llane Wrynn, albeit reluctantly. With Garrosh Hellscream's complete erasure of the timeline, that future no longer holds true, and you have a chance to prevent Garona from preventing a greater calamity. The 'Call of the Archmage' questline will continue in 6.1, in which you are tasked by Khadgar (he of the many whiskers) to hunt down and locate what I can only assume to be the magical ring of MacGuffin that will just so happen to allow you to break the hold the warlock Gul'dan has on her.

Do this, and you will get more than just some fancy loot, you'll gain your first legendary follower. "Garona comes to you with three abilities befitting an Assassination Rogue, as well as the Master Assassin trait, which greatly increases the chance of success on any mission she is assigned to. Furthermore, she starts at a follower item level of 630."
Things will also be getting a little more crowded around your Garrison, with new followers coming in daily offering their services and rewards. The new Treasure Hunter trait will let them earn more gold per mission completed, as well as new quests and items that award a host of useful tools. Remember kids, just because you aren't playing the game doesn't mean the game shouldn't be playing for you.
