A fan by the name of Rod Lima spent his free time recreating the classic survival horror game using Unreal Engine 3. This wasn't for fame or fortune, he did it to teach himself how Unreal Engine works, reports Eurogamer.
"It's an education project neither Capcom or Epic Games approve/knows it," Lima said.

Some education project.
Lima was meticulous, recreating every aspect of the original game. Although he started with a POV more like Resident Evil 4, he eventually returned to the fixed camera angle of the original RE2.
Resident Evil 2 has never had an official remake although it has been ported to serval other systems. The game was hugely popular when it was released way back in 1998. Fans who are familiar with the series will recognize the locations and play style in the video.
To Lima's credit, the game looks a million times better than it did in 1998. What is on the screen now matches what we imagined in our heads.
It's really too bad that no one will get to play this. Lima clearly put in a lot of work. If nothing else, he seems to have learned a lot.
