As you almost certainly are aware, the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots are set to face off tomorrow in Super Bowl XLIX. The biggest sporting event in America will draw millions of viewers, and there has been endless speculation about what will unfold.

Discussing predictions is always good fun, but a simulation takes things one step further. A Madden 15 sim is about as close as we can get to running the odds based on each team's strengths and weaknesses, and I've done just that to bring us a virtual result.
EA's engine has the Seahawks coming out on top in my sim, defeating the Patriots by a score of 32 to 10. The game was closely contested in the first half, with only a late deep throw by Wilson separating the teams as it beat the New England secondary over the top to put Seattle up 14-7. Obviously the Seattle defense, as we've come to expect, came up big--the team picked up 2 interceptions and sacked Brady multiple times. The Seahawks ran away with the game using the turnovers in the second half, and the Pats could only muster a field goal in the 4th quarter.

I ran this simulation independently on full, 15 minute quarters on the All-Madden difficulty with the updated rosters and in a one-off Super Bowl match. To test for consistency, I then ran a best of three on 7 minute quarters--the Patriots actually won the first game, but the Seahawks rallied for the next two.
For what it's worth, EA also ran its own simulation. The settings (and the number of times they ran the sim) are unknown, but their result was different than mine. The Patriots won the game 28-24, and you can watch the highly-edited sim in the video below. I'm a bit skeptical that the team ran it once and got such a close game won late on, but it's certainly possible! We'll just have to wait and see which team comes out on top tomorrow in the real game.
