We've seen plenty of ambitious and creative Minecraft projects before, but Westeroscraft is shaping up to be the most impressive community creation yet.
The Top 5 Exotic Weapons In Destiny
The volunteer team (website here) is recreating the entire world of Game of Thrones within the simple building game, painstakingly constructing locales and buildings from the hit HBO show. You may have seen the Minecraft version of King's Landing (the capital city in the series) a while back, and this project is that work on a much larger, more detailed scale.
You don't have to simply imagine how it must look, however--a video below shows off the project so far, and it's narrated by Isaac Hempstead-Wright, the actor who plays Bran Stark. Kotaku spoke to Westeroscraft's leader, Jacob Granberry, who stated that there are about 125 active members on the server now along with many mods. The world is about 70 percent complete, according to Granberry, and new custom block textures drove the team to repaint the whole map, and recreate some portions entirely.
Our Impressions Of Dying Light's Co-op, Campaign, And Great Parkour
This is easily one of, if not the most impressive creation I've seen in Minecraft, personally. While it's not an original creation like one man's working word processor, the commitment to detail of something that already exists is admirable, and huge scale is staggering. Community mods and projects are often the best parts of gaming, and Westeroscraft is certainly no exception.
