Players have been a bit upset with the rollout of WWE 2K15, the latest wrestling title. The game was criticized for its wonky content, with many reviewers stating that you really should just go ahead and continue playing the far superior WWE 2K14, or wait until all the bugs have been ironed out for WWE 2K16.

Though perhaps low on the list of complaints - given the sheer number of characters include in the roster from many eras of wrestling history - was the omission of Matthew Cardona, better known by his stage name 'Zack Ryder'.
Several developers from Visual Concepts, part of the team behind WWE 2K15, went onto the Pro Wrestling Torch Radio Show (and podcast) to talk about the game and the glaring omission of the baby-faced, lower-tiered character.

The reasons are twofold and not that exciting, though they do offer insights into the behind the scenes workings of the WWE. Ryder simply was not featured that much in programming during 2014, and even suffered a torn rotator cuff towards the end of the year, effectively sidelining him for a few months.
The team also let slip that the guys from WWE are not particularly fond of Ryder and since they have final say in who's in or out of the game's roster, they decided not to include the 29 year old wrestler. They did say that if Ryder is healthy and performs well, he has a good shot of making it into WWE 2K16 when that comes out later this year.
So, that's about as juicy as this story will get.
