Sometimes things don't work out the way you plan them too. This is the case for Guillermo del Toro's long awaited A Killing on Carnival Row. The fantasy film has been held with no movement. It's ok though, there's good news on the horizon for the story.
The Strain Will Be Changing Its Casting Line Up For Season Two
A Killing on Carnival Row was originally slated to be a feature film but JoBlo reports that it will instead be a series through Amazon.
Legendary and Amazon Studios are developing the property for a full series based on the original concept from Del Toro and Travis Beacham.
The two will co-author a script together along with Rene Echevaria. Del Toro will direct the pilot.
Anyone familiar with the director's work knows that he does speculative very well. His work on Pan's Labyrinth more than proves that he has the chops to handle a fantasy setting with no issue. Which is good because A Killing will likely be chock full of fantasy goodness.
The story will be a sort of crime noir set in a fantasy Victorian setting. In the original movie script, a detective investigating the murders of fantasy creatures finds himself listed as the prime suspect.
How much of that original tale will end up in the show remains to be seen. Del Toro has said that he is excited at the prospect of doing a full show as it will let them explore ideas and concepts that didn't make it into the original film.
Stay tuned for more information on this exciting project.
