The first major changes to the Halo 5: Guardians Beta have gone live, introducing new maps, weapon starts, and a new gametype.

As per the planned update schedule, week two of the beta will be swapping out the Slayer maps Truth and Empire for Regret and Eden, and Battle Rifle starts will (thankfully) be replacing Assault Rifles as the starting weapon.
Additionally, the beta will be updated with an option other than straight Slayer--a new mode called Breakout has been introduced. This gametype features 4v4 Counter Strike style gameplay, in which players only get one life and no respawns every round. First team to wipe out all opposing players wins the round, and the first team to five rounds wins the match. Two new maps have been added to Breakout, Trench and Crossfire, and they were designed specifically with the new mode in mind.

343 multiplayer designer Quinn DelHoyo also mentioned today that the Light Rifle has been added this week, a detail the team forgot to include earlier. The weapon has been modified since Halo 4, and is more of a tier two gun now, according to DelHoyo.
The beta's third week will introduce an objective gametype called Strongholds, which looks to rely on taking and holding certain territory, but 343 has not yet provided details. The beta launched at the end of December, and will run until January 18--access is gained through ownership of Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
