Joss Whedon is a fan boy favorite. The director of the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron film has had his fingers in a variety of projects all of which have been generally well loved by viewers. Even with all of his success and fame, the director almost didn't see his most recent film happen.

In an interview with /Film, the director admitted that the second movie almost didn't happen at all. "I was ragged from the first one, and so I just turned off my brain," Whedon revealed. "I was like, do not think of cool ideas for the next one. Just get through this."
Obviously this didn't stick and thankfully, he was able to crank some new ideas out for the second film in the franchise. Apparently, in Whedon's mind, there's never been anyone else for the Vision but Paul Bettany.

Whedon also revealed that he was happy there was no standalone Hulk movie (aside from the two that came before the Avengers franchise really took off). Whedon points out that it makes the job easier since Hulk hasn't had any sort of outside story arc that changes him. Everything that happens with him is on screen in the current Avengers storyline.
It is confirmed that the movie itself is also bigger. Whedon says "The cast is bigger. The scope is bigger. We have more to work with. Not that we're trying to spend more. In fact, we're trying to avoid bloat wherever possible. But with this, we're on a broader canvas. We're in more countries. We have a bigger world to work with, and a bigger world for them just to be in."
Avengers: Age of Ultron releases May of 2015.
