Star Wars released their teaser trailer a few weeks ago and showed off a lot of fun, really cool things. New droids! New lightsabers! Desert! What it didn't show at all were the original Star Wars actors that will appear in the film. Saturday Night Live decided to rectify this lapse with a recent skit.
Star Wars Trailer Voice Over Actor Confirmed
Imagine normal old people troubles. But in a galaxy far, far away. That was this skit and it worked. Of course I'm questioning why Princess Leia suddenly has no idea how to use R2-D2 correctly. I mean, it's not like he has gotten an upgrade since ever.
Also of note, Lando Calrissian's house. Kudos to those set designers. I'm not sure how they did it but it looks like both my grandmother's living room AND possibly a future space world at the same time. Weird.
Comic Adventures Await Star Wars in the New Year
Also featured were an aged Han Solo, Chewie, and doddering, cave-dwelling Luke Skywalker. Who of course, puts all that Jedi training to good use by organizing his weekly medication. Although interesting to note, real-life Mark Hamill actually looks grizzlier than James Franco in old people makeup. None of the original actors were featured in this spoof.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the newest film in the long running much loved series. Old favorites such as Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher will return in the new film, reprising their roles along with a host of new faces. The new film is set to release in December of 2015. Watch the SNL skit below.
