More casting news has been released for The Walking Dead spinoff Cobalt, and it seems like the show has found its lead. Deadline reports that Cliff Curtis will be taking on the role of a divorced teacher dealing with the zombie apocalypse.
Magic Meets Zombies in The Walking Dead Spinoff Casting
Last week, it was revealed that two young actors, Frank Dillane (Harry Potter) and Alycia Debnam Carey (Into the Storm) were cast as the children of a single mother guidance counselar. At that time, there was no information regarding the actors filling the role of their mother or the male lead but with Curtis having been announced, that solves one mystery.
Curtis has most recently shown up in Gang Related and Missing. If you want to relive some torture, he was also Fire Lord Ozai in The Last Airbender. Yeah. Let that memory sink in. In Cobalt, as this new series is currently being called, he will play a divorced school teacher who is allegedly a good man who just really wants to protect and care for the people in his life. It would stand to reason that he works with the female lead as they are both school employees before the apocalypse. But this has not been confirmed.
New Character Hinted at During The Talking Dead
Other than temperament, not much else is known at this point. The show will take place in the same zombie apocalypse that the original series is trapped in, but the location will be different. How much different is currently unknown. The show will air on AMC and is likely to premiere in the fall 2015 line up.
