Ubisoft Developing The Avengers Game, Smash like Hulk on Xbox Kinect and Wii U

With the movie "The Avengers" already a hit at the box office, video game development company Ubisoft is all set to release "Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth" in partnership with Marvel Entertainment.

"We are excited to team up with Marvel Entertainment to bring some of the most iconic comic book characters from the Marvel line-up to life in motion-gaming," said Tony Key, US Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Ubisoft in a press release. "Fans of the Marvel universe and superhero games are going to love the extensive combinations of characters, motion-controlled moves and competitive gameplay," Key added.

The game Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth will be based on fan favorite superheroes and villains from the Marvel Universe. It will feature around 20 different characters, including The Avengers' such as Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America and Thor.

"For the last few years, Marvel has positioned itself to deliver the absolute best in entertainment, be it in film, animation, comics or games,"  said Andreea Enache-Thune, Senior Vice President of Games and Digital Distribution at Marvel.

The movie "The Avengers" has already earned $207.4 million domestically in its opening weekend smashing the box office records and now with the game version all set to be released, fans are looking forward to playing characters and controlling their superpowers on their game consoles.

"For starters it's not actually based on the film, but instead on the Secret Invasion comic series. That means the bad guys are the Skrulls, the shape-shifting aliens from which the movie's Chitauri are derived," writes Metro.

In the past, most game adaptations were rushed to meet deadlines connected to the film debut.  As a result, games-based on movies are notoriously known to be terrible products.  Disney and Marvel plans to take a different approach this time to avoid delivering a poor game.

Marvel's Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor fell victims to this tragic cycle.  An earlier scheduled Avengers game was already in production by game company THQ, but due to financial instability, production was stopped and the game cancelled.

The Avengers: Battle for Earth will look to enable motion controls by utilizing the Xbox Kinect and Wii U controllers platform.  Gamers could have the opportunity to smash like the Hulk or hurl a mighty shield as Captain America with physical motions.

The game is expected to be released sometime this fall for the Xbox 360 with Kinect and Nintendo's Wii U system.
