After the massive hits of Captain America and its sequel, as well as the sleeper hit of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Marvel is gracing us with another Primetime goodie with Agent Carter. As the name implies, the show follows the sometimes secretary, sometimes secret agent, Agent Carter and is set to premiere on January 6 on ABC.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Season 2 Trailer Promises Higher Stakes Than First Season
Agent Carter will be an 8-part miniseries set in the 1940s that centers on Peggy Carter, who fans will recognize from previous films. This miniseries follows her exploits to balance her life, professional, social, and secret professional.
While she works for the Strategic Scientific Reserve, she is also running secret missions for Howard Stark, who is framed with selling weapons to enemies. Of course it's up to Carter and Jarvis to get him out of this mess. Expect to be treated to a vintage world with espionage, subterfuge, and pin curls.
Avengers Comic Miniseries to Show Dark Vision of the Future
The show takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so it matches up with all of the major blockbusters. It will run during the season two mid-season break of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Originally Carter was pitched as a 13 episode series with subsequent seasons advancing on to new cases but was later decided to be shorter miniseries. During the course of the series, characters from other parts of the universe will be making appearances as well, so look out for familiar names and faces. The miniseries should serve to better set up the modern Marvel universe by giving the viewers a more in-depth look at the madness that was WWII and the resulting fall out.
