Siliconera reports the news via The Pokemon Company International, which was no doubt happy to announce the sales. The numbers include the U.S., Japan, and several other territories. The games have yet to launch in Europe yet, however, which will boost sales even further.
Nintendo hasn't had the best of its years financially in recent times, butis set for a very strong holiday season. Huge software releases on Wii U (Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8, and Hyrule Warriors) are boosting both game and hardware sales, with the 3DS following suit (thanks, Pokemon).
EA's Black Friday Origin Sales
Super Smash Bros For Wii U became the system's fastest-selling game ever, moving 490,000 units in a three-day span. Nintendo is excited, and said that more is in store for fans:
"The Nintendo holiday is off to a great start, but there's a lot of work left to do and a few more surprises in store for our fans," said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "With great deals coming on Black Friday and Cyber Monday and great content like Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker launching next week, Nintendo will offer shoppers the best combination of fun and value this holiday season."
