Roughly two thousand fans were in attendance at the first London Final FANtasy Festival over the weekend. The event was the second of three such occasions. The Final Fantasy XIV development team was on hand to reveal some more information regarding the upcoming expansion, Heavensward.
PS4: Let Your Freeloading Friends Play Games They Don't Even Own
The big reveals came during the opening ceremonies (I hope you bought your premium virtual ticket). Director Naoki Yoshida introduced some bits of forthcoming content, including new tribes, new mounts, primals and an all new Job.
The first new Job is a Dark Knight. Rather than growling at your foes, the character will serve as a tank and functions in much the same way as a Death Knight does in World of Warcraft. The unit carries a very large, very intimidating two handed sword, is decked out in some nasty looking armor and wields only the darkest of magics. The most intriguing part is that, unlike all the other Jobs in the game (Scholar, the upcoming Ninja, etc), one does not have to be a certain class in order to access the Dark Knight Job. Anyone can be a Dark Knight.
The Dragon Age Of Ultron Has Arrived
The balancing issues alone so very difficult to deal with.
Flying mounts enable players to take their adventure to new heights. Two types of flying mounts were revealed at the Fan Festival, a flying black chocobo and single-rider airships, both making it easier to explore the floating lands that will be featured prominently in the expansion.
Heavensward also introduces two new beast tribes, the Vanu Vanu and the Gnath, as well as their primals, Bismarck, and Ravana, respectively.
More information regarding the 2015 release of Heavensward will be revealed at the Tokyo Fan Festival from December 20 to 21. The only hint we were given was that of Yoshida 'firing a gun into the air', so we can assume some sort of Gunslinger or Hunter Job type is in the works.
So, keep watching the skies!
