Fans of the Agents of SHIELD TV show yesterday were treated to a pleasant surprise when it was casually announced at the end of the episode that a new trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron would be shown during the next episode's broadcast.

And you thought last night's episode was revealing.
Next week's trailer appearance will mark the first time the trailer will be shown on broadcast television. The long-awaited trailer was rumored to be attached to Chris Nolan's upcoming film Interstellar, and it's very probable that Disney's Big Hero 6 will get the trailer as well. Releasing the trailer on next week's episode of SHIELD will give it about a week of being out in the ether before it lands in theaters for either of those movies, both of which are slated to come out in two weeks.

The move is certainly a strategic one by Disney. Not only do the Agents of SHIELD fanbase and Avengers fanbase overlap heavily, but this premiere will draw in some Marvel fans who haven't gotten into the TV show yet. If that also means that next week's episode will be a good one – you want to put your best foot forward when everyone's watching – then that's all the better.
You can catch Agents of SHIELD on Tuesdays at 9 Eastern on ABC.
