Ubisoft's upcoming video game Assassin's Creed 3, is breaking pre order records.
The French video game company announced that its latest title has already surpassed their previous pre order record in just three weeks. Previously, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood held the title since it was released in 2010. Ubisoft claims that the number of advance orders is setting it on track to be the most preordered game in the company's history.
"The production value of the game, combined with the biggest marketing commitment we've ever made, will make Assassins Creed III the highest-selling Assassin's Creed game ever," said Tony Key, Ubisoft's SVP of Sales.
Reasons for the increase in pre orders might be Ubisoft's continuing concept of historical fiction and introduction of a new protagonist. Assassin's Creed 3's new hero, Connor, is part of an ancient line of assassins. Their ongoing battle with the Templars will lead our hero into the Colonial American Revolution.
"Players will experience the biggest game launch in Ubisoft's history with the highly-anticipated release of 'Assassin's Creed III,'" said Key.
"With a development cycle of three years, Assassins Creed III is the true next-generation experience of the Assassins Creed brand. The production value of the game, combined with the biggest marketing commitment we've ever made, will make Assassins Creed III the highest-selling Assassin's Creed game ever.
"Additionally, the new setting and hero makes this the perfect time to jump into the series for anyone that has not previously played an Assassin's Creed game."
Assassin's Creed 3 will be the franchise's fifth installment. It will be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and P. The scheduled release date for the game is Oct. 30.
