Nintendo hosted a Super Smash Bros tournament at the Nintendo World Store this weekend, and professional player Dabuz brought home the trophy.
Our Starter Guide For Super Smash Bros On 3DS
The competitors qualified for the tournament by winning the nationwide Gamestop competitions, with Samuel 'Dabuz' Buzby and 15 others having already won in their local regions. The above image shows the victor holding the trophy, and footage of the matches--including the final--can be watched in the official video below.
Dabuz won in dominant fashion using Rosalina & Luma, the two-in-one character combination we highlighted as one of the four best new fighters on the roster. The final wasn't particularly close, defeating runner-up Jumpman and his choice of Mario by several stock--the commentators mentioned that nobody brought Dabuz down to one life through the tournament.
Hands-On Impressions With The Dragon Ball Xenoverse NYCC Demo
There's no prize money for the winner: just the trophy, robe, and bragging rights were at stake, and Dabuz claimed them all. It's very early in the game's competitive lifecycle, with players still feeling out characters, examining movesets, and experimenting with strategies, but it certainly highlighted the viability of Rosalina & Luma and was an impressive win for Dabuz. Nintendo provided additional photographs from the event, showing off the venue and crowd that gathered to watch the combatants, which you can check out below ahead of the footage.
