Nintendo At IndieCade: Shovel Knight, Costume Quest 2, Many More Playable At Nintendo's Booth This Weekend

Nintendo Is Showing Off Its Indie Titles For Wii U And 3DS This Weekend At IndieCade

Nintendo isn't usually the first name to come to mind when talking about third-party, independent game development. Nintendo does, however, have a solid lineup of indie titles coming to the Wii U and 3DS, and it'll be showing them off at IndieCade this weekend.

Costume Quest 2 Hands-On Preview

Some of the bigger names making their way to Nintendo's booth include Shovel Knight, the classically-inspired platformer that has made its way to both the Wii U and 3DS. Also in the lineup is Double Fine's Costume Quest 2. This adorable RPG sequel is coming to the Wii U. All of these games will be available to pick up and play – some for their first playable demo – at the Culver City convention this weekend.

Some of the games featured will even be Nintendo-exclusive. Games like the 2D platformer Xeodrifter will only be available on the 3DS. Wii U indie exclusives include games like the chaotic multiplayer game Sportsball, the nine-player party game Runbow and Affordable Space Adventures, a sim game that utilizes the Wii U GamePad.

The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter: Review

"Nintendo has always supported creativity and innovation in video games," said Steve Singer, Nintendo of America's vice president of licensing, in a release. "These Nindie developers are currently making some of the most exciting and imaginative games out there, and Nintendo is pleased to offer them multiple platforms to bring their creative ideas to life."

Of the 13 games Nintendo will be promoting at IndieCade, 10 of the developers will be present to help sell their games. Some will also be participating in a special panel moderated by a senior marketing manager from Nintendo of America about bringing indie games to Nintendo systems

IndieCade will run from October 9-12 in Culver City, California.
