The iPhone 6 Health App Is Already Keeping Track Of Your Fitness Whether You Know It Or Not

Your iPhone 6 Is Already Looking Out For Your Health, Whether Or Not You Told It To

Apple's new Health app that shipped with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus is meant to help Apple users keep closer track of their health than ever before. According to a new report on ZDNet, what we didn't know was that it has already started doing that.

Jawbone's UP HealthKit App Doesn't Require A Jawbone Wristband

Apple's Health app got off to a rocky start on the release of iOS 8 and the iPhone 6. The original iOS 8 update had a bug that prevented the supplementary HealthKit apps from appearing on Apple's App Store. The app itself, however, has been working hard since launch.

ZDNet writer James Kendrick booted up the Health app on the iPhone 6 Plus only to find that the app already had data on how many steps he had taken and how far he had both walked and run ever since first turning on the phone. Even if the user hasn't told it to, the iPhone 6 is already working to gather data on user fitness, which will all be ready for examination when the user does finally decide to try out Health.

iOS 8.0.2 Fixed A Lot More Than Getting HealthKit Apps Back On The App Store

The report only mentions that this feature is true for the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. It doesn't mention whether or not the same holds true for iPhone 5S devices that downloaded the Health app through the iOS 8 update.

Apple's HealthKit line of apps became available for download after the iOS 8.0.2 update fixed many bugs both from the original launch and the faulty 8.0.1 update. With these apps, iPhone owners can supplement the existing Health app with many third-party apps, allowing users to customize how they want to approach the topic of their own well being.
