Did you enjoy X-Men: Days Of Future Past and its time travelling shenanigans? Are you looking forward to future Fox-Marvel mutant movies X-Men: Apocalypse and Deadpool? Well, after Days Of Future Past's timeline tango, your old standbys may look slightly different from what you're used to.
The Overextended The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug Gets An Extended Edition Trailer
"If we included some of the original X-Men like Storm and Jean and Scott and others in Apocalypse, yeah we'd have to recast them, as Apocalypse takes place a good twenty years before [the first] X-Men, which was now, insanely, a good ten to fifteen years ago,"producer Simon Kinberg (Star Wars: Rebels) stated in a video interview with Yahoo! Movies.
As the first X-Men movie came out in 2000, it was simply fifteen years ago.
"It would be really hard to do. [Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, James Marsden] and others have done such wonderful jobs of bringing those parts to life, and are so identified with those parts now," says Kinberg. "So it would be a tall task. But I also would have said before First Class that there would be no actors who can stand alongside Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart."
Why PG-13 Doesn't Matter For Deadpool
James McAvoy, who plays Professor Xavier in the new First Class timeline, is 35. This will basically require actual X-teens to make him look like a sage professor of any authority. Adjust your fancastings accordingly! Michael Fassbender will be 38 and taking a nice nap by the time the movie comes out.
X-Men: Apocalypse will hit theaters May 18, 2016.
