Game AI - when it works, you don't notice it. When it's bungled, there is no better way to make you lose your patience for whatever digital ally is running into a wall, either one of brick or one of bullets.
Producer Cameron Lee insists that this will not be the case with Dragon Age: Inquisition! What does he have to say about it?
Dragon Age: Inquisition Will Kick Your Ass
In an interview with PlayStation Lifestyle, Cameron Lee seemed taken aback at the very notion that players would need to keep constant tabs on their party members for fear of them screwing up.
"I don't know that you have to micro-manage people in Inquisition, you can if you want to, but the AI is pretty intelligent. So, they will do things like, for example, if you have Cassandra in your party - she's a warrior, and if you've built her to be kind of like a tank warrior, an offensive warrior, she's going to try and draw aggro across everyone, all the enemies around her. In particular try and draw the agrro from enemies you've got targeted as well."
Turn Your Enemies Into Your Court Jesters In Dragon Age: Inquisition
Very cool to hear a tank auto-aggros those specific bad guys you've got targeted for yourself. Let's hope the AI does as well as promised. I guess we'll see in two months!
Dragon Age: Inquisition is coming to PC and consoles on November 18 in North America and November 21 in Europe.
