Everybody got very excited once Fox and Ryan Reynolds confirmed that there would indeed be a Deadpool movie. Everybody's favorite cross between Bugs Bunny and Wolverine would get a movie released in 2016, and everyone would be happy. But now a most fan-unfriendly rumor has hit the fan...

The Schmoes Know podcast/YouTube show claims that they "heard from the director that they finally figured out the script and it was right before this was announced that they figured out, and you guys are all going to hate this, they figured out how to make it PG-13. And therefore not lose its soul - that's a quote - of the script, so they can make it".
Here's why this is not a big deal: they figured it out at the script stage. There will be no R-rated movie delivered into the hands of the studio who will then send in some goons to cut it down to a PG-13 without the director's consent. Most likely there'll be an unrated cut on blu-ray after the theatrical release, because the Deadpool market is very much one that would be down for that, and I'm sure Fox knows.

And even if there wasn't one, have you read Joe Kelly's run on Deadpool recently (still the best the character's been)? Nothing in there that warrants an automatic R-rating. Also consider some of these movies: The Dark Knight, The Wolverine, Lord Of The Rings... all PG-13 movies that were either pretty dark or had a buttload of knife and sword-related violence.
