The calendar says Thursday, so that can only mean one thing: Nintendo has released the latest eShop and Virtual Console titles!
FIFA 15, Loan Your Squad Out; There's Nothing Weird About That
This week, nay, this entire year, Nintendo is all about Super Smash Bros. Starting tomorrow, September 19 at 6 a.m. EST, 3DS owners can download a free demo of Super Smash Bros for the Nintendo 3DS, which includes five playable characters (Mario, Link, Pikachu, Villager and Mega Man), one stage (Battlefield) and the ability to compete in local multiplayer matches with fellow Nintendo 3DS owners who have downloaded the demo to their systems. A Nintendo Network ID is required to download the demo. The full version of the game hits North America on October 3.
The Super Smashing sale continues. Select Smash Bros characters titles will be discounted in anticipation of the upcoming game. This week's challengers are Pokemon, Samus and a few others. Head over to the official sale site for the update.
FF XIV Patch 2.4 Is In Development
Also out now for the 3DS is THEATRHYTHM FINAL FANTASY CURTAIN CALL, the music based rhythm game. Musical performances take the place of battles as you try to outperform your adversary. The game features 60 characters from the Final Fantasy universe and 221 songs. The full game costs $39.99.
Perhaps singing and opera is not your thing. Maybe cooking is? Cooking Mama 5: Bon Appetit. The popular home ec series introduces 60 new recipes and 30 new mini-games. It's all the fun of baking, none of the calories. Available now for $29.99.
The Wii U's Virtual Console selection this week is the rare SNES title Wild Guns, the old west/sci-fi shooter. Blast apart just about everything in the environment to find guns, bombs, and other hidden power-ups. It's up to you to bring justice back to town-or whatever's left of it when the gun smoke clears. You can pick up the game for $7.99 via download, or spend entirely far too much on the physical copy on ebay.
This week's 3DS Virtual Console title is Legend of the River King 2, the Game Boy Color fishing adventure that somehow also features angels. It was the nineties, man, we were trying out all sorts of weird stuff. Available now for $4.99.
The following titles are on sale this week!
Shin Megami Tensei IV, Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars and more ATLUS games will be on sale Sept. 22 through 8:59 a.m. PT on Sept. 29 for 3DS.
Moon Chronicles and Mutant Mudds from Renegade Kid until Oct. 2 for the Nintendo 3DS.
Strike Force Foxx, Coaster Creator 3D and many other fun Big John Games are on for the 3DS for up to 50 percent off. This offer is valid until 8:49 a.m. PT on Oct. 2.

Lastly, the following titles are also new this week:
Arrow Time U (Wii U) $1.99
SPIKEY WALLS, a Flappy Bird clone if ever there was one. (Wii U) $0.99
FIFA 15, featuring over 30 leagues, 500 clubs and 12,000 players, it's one of the most robust titles on Nintendo's handheld (3DS); available September 23
Horse Vet 3D, where you can...tend to horses, I suppose. No word if you have to put them down the old fashioned way. (3DS)
Secret Empires of the Ancient World, surprisingly not funded by the Discovery Channel; it's a hidden object game where you explore the ruins of ancient cultures (3DS) $4.99.
That's all for this week. Tune in next Thursday when Nintendo brings the big guns, err...swords with Hyrule Warriors!
