Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios today confirmed that Mortal Kombat X will be released worldwide on April 14, 2015.

The notoriously gory fighting franchise will hit next-gen systems for the first time ever next year, taking advantage of a heavily modified version of the Unreal Engine 3 to provide the finest (and bloodiest) visuals in the series yet. The Xbox One, PS4 and PC versions seem like the way to go for the full experience but if you haven't upgraded yet you'll be able to get it for Xbox 360 and PS3 as well.
Legendary four-armed boss Goro has also been announced as an exclusive playable character, only available to those who pre-order the game. This will be Goro's first appearance as a playable character in the series in more than eight years, since Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.

Goro will be available launch day for anyone who pre-orders.
NetherRealm Studios single-handedly resurrected the franchise with Mortal Kombat, the ninth installment of the series, which added something it has long been missing- actual gameplay. While the series was always well-regarded thanks to its completely over the top graphic nature, Mortal Kombat was the first in the series to play as well as it looked, and was more brutal than any one before.
Mortal Kombat X seems to continue this trend. It's adding plenty of new characters (including Johnny Cage's daughter), various styles for each character, and a persistent online contest where "every fight matters in a global battle for supremacy."
Prepare yourselves- Kombat returns in April.
