Resident Evil HD Remake Gets A Gameplay Trailer, Shows off 1080p Graphics For Xbox One And PS4 At PAX [NEW SCREENS, VIDEO]

The First Footage From The Resident Evil HD Remake Is Live

At PAX this weekend Capcom showed off the first footage from the upcoming remake of Resident Evil, which will be hitting stores in 2015.

The Evil Within DLC Will Allow You To Play As The Horrific 'Boxman'

As previously reported, this is an HD remake of the Gamecube version of the original game, which took the PS One classic and recreated the entire world in 3D. While there have been very many versions of the original game (remember the Director's Cut edition? The Dual Shock edition?) this was the finest- it updated the game with a stunning new graphics engine faithfully and instantly became the definitive version of the horror classic.

Of course, that was 12 years ago, so the same may be true for this new one. These new screens certainly reveal that the graphics have been greatly improved, as does the gameplay video below.

Screens really don't do it justice- the new lighting engine is going to add a whole new level of creep factor to the game. Everything seems to be in place though, all of the cut-scenes, jump scares and enemies seeming to confirm the director's insistence that the game will be as faithful as possible. But is it wrong to still lament the lack of the live-action opening? I miss the shlocky cheese and awful voice-acting of the original.

Resident Evil will hit PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC early 2015. Check out the trailer below and try to figure out what that final teaser means!
