After the earlier success of this year's Blackguards, a turn-based RPG that utilizes the German tabletop system The Dark Eye, developer Daedalic Entertainment heard your calls and is well on their way to delivering a chilling, thrilling adventure set in the world of Hurasia.
The first one was reviewed by our very own Luca Saita and was good, oft great, but maddeningly beholden to the tabletop rules. Daedalic's dev team has been hard at work, monitoring player and critic feedback and thinks they have quite the game coming for us.
"Blackguards 2, which just like the first game is based on the ruleset of The Dark Eye Pen & Paper RPG, will offer players a further improved implementation of the Dark Eye rules and a more comprehensible character generator - but also larger and more demanding battle maps, more interactive items as well as new enemy classes and many new mission, which will require the players' whole strategic skills."
Blizzard Updating The Looking For Group Mechanic In World Of Warcraft
The game will be a continuation of the storyline from the original, and feature many familiar faces. Sadly, things have not gone well for your band of adventurers. They've gotten old, tired, less unscrupulous and perhaps downright dangerous.
If not in a battle, players take care of a lot of quests and the development of their characters. As common in RPGs, the quests will offer optional and alternative plotlines. Furthermore, Blackguards 2 will have new weapons, armor, enemies and stamina as additional battle resource.
On top of that, Blackguards 2 will involve mechanics that have been requested by players of the first game, like improved line of sight, cover and formations. They heard you and they did something about it, folks.
Blackguards 2 will be available for PC and Mac in 2015. No exact release date has been given but we'll be there when it is. Watch the trailer below and get excited!
