Behind The Scenes With Borderlands The Pre-Sequel: New Video Shows Off Guns, Gravity And Gruesome Gore

The fine folks at 2K and Gearbox have released a new behind the scenes video showing off the development of several of the new mechanics and weapons that will be found in the upcoming Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel!

Handsome Jack Offers Up Survival Tips In Borderlands Video

Set between the events of Borderlands and Borderlands 2, The Pre-Sequel! looks to answer the question: just what in the hell happened to Pandora's moon? As you'll recall, it's fine in the first, but it is a little worse for wear in the second. The Pre-Sequel! takes the action to dazzling new zero-gravity heights as you wage battle across the moon.

The video takes a in-depth look at some of the new weapons, including the ice gun and the lasers. The ice gun is particularly great. It will slow enemies down, then ultimately freeze them and allow you to shatter them in any number of ways. You can even take the laser and slice them in half, watching the top half slide off the bottom half. But there's always the old and trusty T-1000 shattering.

Getting a behind the scenes look into a game as manic and fun as Borderlands is a real treat. The developers are clearly having a good time making this, and it shows in the gameplay. We the consumers only get the finished product (or "mostly" finished product) and we forget that these things have to be built from scratch and incorporate new ideas. The video highlights the revelation the team had in developing the 'butt slam', or 'butt stomp' that makes the high orbit jumps a player can make a little more effective.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! will be released for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on October 14.
