According to Deadline, despite sales of nearly 2.8 million units this quarter, Mario Kart 8 could not stop Nintendo from taking a larger than expected loss to the tune of $92.2 million. Now that sounds bad, and it is, but remember that Nintendo has such a huge amount of money banked away that they can operate at a loss of $252 million every year and still not run out until 2052. A quarterly loss like this puts them in the hole about $360 million this year, which will still keep them in operation until the 2040s.
Mario Kart 8 helped spur the Wii U to one of its best quarterly showings. 510,000 units were sold, a three-fold increase from the same period a year ago. The total sales numbers of the Wii U, which launched in November 2012, stands at about 6.7 million units. The best selling console of the new generation, the PlayStation 4, has sold damn near 9 million since it was released in November of last year.

2015, however, will be a huge year for Nintendo. All of their new games, including the new Nintendo made Legend of Zelda, will be releasing then. They just have to get through this year and has been mentioned, they'll be doing just fine.
Now, here's some Luigi.
