Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Trailer Reveals Wraith Companion
The first trailer for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, starts with Bilbo pledging to himself that he will remember everything, the good, the bad, the ones who lived, the ones who died. Sharp viewers will note that "the ones who died" is accompanied by a shot of Tauriel (Evangeline Lilly) and Legolas (Orlando Bloom), an elven duo of whom one does not appear in the original Lord of the Rings trilogy. Far be it from us to spoil things, but we'd be loth not to point this little detail out.
Furthermore, we have Bard of the line of Girion (Luke Evans) asking Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) whether he wants peace or war. "War!" shouts a now-crowned Thorin. Traditionally, the dwarven prince has always been an heir to the throne slightly less easy to root for than Aragorn. Galadriel (Cate Blanchett) kisses the prone form of Gandalf the Grey who seems to be unconscious. Having seen the original films may tip you off to the outcome of this particular event!
Awesome Hobbit 3 Comic Con Poster Shows Smaug Blasting Bard
The whole trailer is set to Return of the King's Mist and Shadow, the song you may remember was sung by Pippin (Billy Boyd) to Denethor (John Noble) as the latter sent his son Faramir (David Wenham) off to die. It's a bit of shameless coasting on nostalgia, especially with the trailer ending with Thorin asking his Company to "Join me... one last time..." Peter Jackson might as well be winking into the camera!
But I'll admit... I'm down. Are you? Let us know what you think!
