The Last Of Us Remastered Graphics Upgrades Detailed, Developers Outline New Features

The Last of Us Remastered is bringing all of the PlayStation 3 game's additional singleplayer and multiplayer content and features to PS4 in one package, but its greatest asset looks to be the high-quality graphics upgrade.

The new game looks fantastic, as you can see in the video below, with every facet of the graphics improved and running in a higher resolution and 60fps. The frame rate can also be locked at 30fps, for those that prefer a steady rate.

Polygon, which attended a Sony press event, reports that Naughty Dog Community Manager Eric Monacelli cited the improved texture resolutions as the biggest reason The Last of Us Remastered looks so much better than the original, and observe that the full 1080p support makes everything--especially text--look much clearer.

The publication was also told that the game would be getting a day-one patch that added a photo mode, similar to what is offered in Infamous: Second Son. You can toggle whether or not to show the HUD both in and out of photo mode, for taking uncluttered pictures or just admiring the scenery.

Other features that take advantage of the PS4's capabilities will be added as well, including the use of the controller speaker to play audio logs. The light bar will flash and change colors to reflect damage, and you can swipe the touchpad to open your inventory. The Last of Us Remastered will be available on July 29 for $49.99, a $10 drop from the originally announced price.
