The Legend of Zelda 'Hyrule Warriors' News: Fi From 'Skyward Sword' Announced As Playable Character; Link And Zelda Get New Costumes And Weapons

The Legend of Zelda 'Hyrule Warriors' News: Fi From 'Skyward Sword' Announced As Playable Character

A new challenger approaches. Famitsu magazine has confirmed that Fi from the Wii's The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will be a playable character in the upcoming Hyrule Warriors.

Curse of Naxxramas Price And Release Structure Announced

The announcement was made to Famitsu magazine. Fi serves as Link's guide, similar to Navi from Ocarina of Time and Midna from Twilight Princess. Fi, pronounced 'fy', was the the physical incarnation and guardian spirit of the Goddess Sword carried by our young hero. Her only other appearance outside of Skyward Sword has been in the Wii's Super Smash Bros. Brawl where she was a trophy.

Fun fact about Fi: a theory states that since she is a creation of the Hyrulian gods and meant to serve as a guide to the Hero, Skyward Sword was not the only time we have ever met her. It is possible that the companions in other games, Navi, Midna and Ciela (from Phantom Hourglass) are all some reincarnation of the spirit and will of Fi.

Endless Legend Beta Goes Live On Steam Early Access

No word yet on what powers Fi will wield in the upcoming action title.

Additionally, the article confirms that Link and Zelda will have their costumes from Skyward Sword available for changing. Also, the ball and chain weapon, the Big Ball, that made my day in Twilight Princess will be available for supreme ass-kicking.

Fi gets half a point to the women competitors. She's a genderless spirit, but counts towards the girls as she has a more feminine appearance and we're all calling her she. Currently, Link is the only male character announced alongside Zelda, Impa, Fi, Midna, Agitha and the newcomer, Lana.

Hyrule Warriors hits Japanese shelves on August 14. North America will see it here on September 26. You can only buy it for the Wii U.
