'Halo The Master Chief Collection' New Trailer Gives Us A Look Inside The Arbiter; 'Halo 2' Coagulation Announced As Remastered Multiplayer Map [VIDEO]

Halo: The Master Chief Collection New Trailer Gives Us A Look Inside The Arbiter

A new Halo trailer dropped over the holiday weekend and in the grand tradition of all things Master Chief, it is a very effective one.

Superman Suits Up For CW's Arrow

The trailer highlights everyone's favorite Covenant character, the Arbiter, from the still exquisite Halo 2. Voiced by the illustrious Keith David, the Arbiter narrates the saga of his life, as if a mirror to the actions of protagonist Master Chief. It ends with a hint of greater mysteries still to come, a dark secret the Arbiter has been hiding; a truth that will shake the core of the friendship between Human and Covenant.

The trailer is part of the reintroduction of the terminal mechanic, which allows players to view the game through the perspective of another character. Halo 1 terminals will let players see things through the eyes of everyone's favorite maniacal robot, Guilty Spark; while Halo 2 lets you see what the Arbiter is up to.

Batman: Arkham Knight Action Figure Goes Up For Sale

Disappointingly, the trailer does not appear to be redone in any way. The Halo 2 graphics, while bursting with nostalgia, look antiquated at best, grainy at worst. Thankfully, that will not be the case for the finished product. 343 Studios will deliver 6 of the original Halo 2 maps in 60fps for the Xbox One remaster. No word yet if those will run at 1080p. The company released several concept screens of one of the all time great multiplayer arenas, Coagulation.

The map is a close remake of the original Halo's Blood Gulch and is known for the two bases at each end of the map, and a whole mess of carnage in between. Always imitated, never replicated.

Coagulation joins Ascension, which has a video walkthrough, as two of the six Halo 2 maps. What are your bets on the other four will be?

All told, there will be over 100 maps across all the major Halo games.

All of this is leading up to the release of Halo: The Master Chief collection on November 11, which will include all four Halo games, newly remastered, plus the new digital live action series Halo: Nightfall which is being produced by legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott. The competitive beta for Halo 5 Guardians drops later, in December. Halo 5 Guardians itself will be out sometime next year.

So just what is the Arbiter up to? Check out the just released E3 trailer below.
