Return of the Jedi Rewritten In Shakespearean Verse

In West Philadelphia 2014, a certain DJ made quite a scene. Chillin' out, maxin' relaxin all cool and all turning some tables outside schooling fools. When a couple of guys, better known the Roots - started teamin' up in this neighborhood! Throw in Jeremy Ellis and this shizz is done - the recipe for a crowd to have some fun. What kinda music if Jeff got his druthers? Why let's do a medley of the Mario Brothers! Yours truly pulled up to the stage I was finally there, but then realized to Philly I live nowhere near. Sad face.

Ahem, sorry about that. Anyway, DJ Jazzy Jeff kills it at Philly Jam every year, and 2014 was no exception! With Jeremy Ellis on beatbox and ?uestlove on drums, Jeff broke out into a crowd-pleasing journey through some well-known gamer arcana. Starting out with Mario's main theme, the crowd really lost it when he took it to the underground and all the way to invincibility and level completion. This is starting to sound kinda dirty so I'll stop, but you're all getting the gist of it.

This is one of those things that make you happy to be a gamer in 2014 - these little themes once concocted by Koji Kondo to provide audio accompaniment for a humble little sidescrolling game can now, decades later, bring smiles to a crowd of thousands across classes, races and genders.
