2K Games has announced that the next installment in Sid Meier's titanic series, Civilization Revolution 2, will be hitting iOS devices on July 2. Prepare yourselves, ye gods and generals of history, your time is about to be accounted for greatly.

Civilization Revolution 2, the sequel to the 2009's Civilization Revolution, will be the first Civ game to be created exclusively for the mobile marketplace. A lot has happened to mobile technology in the meantime and the new game will capitalize on the leaps and bounds the market has made.

The original Civilization Revolution, designed by Firaxis Games, then and now a part of 2K Games, was a watershed game for console and handheld systems, at last bringing a new Civilization experience to the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and the Nintendo DS. The game was brought to the iPhone in 2009. In 2010, the title was optimized for Apple's high-definition iPad and has since achieved an average rating of 4/5 stars among iOS users. becoming one of the top 10 selling mobile games that year.
Staying true to the series, Civilization Revolution 2 will allow players to lead a civilization from the dawn of man to the modern age, and go head-to-head with history's most intrepid leaders as they wage war, conduct diplomacy, discover new technologies, and build the most powerful empire the world has ever known in a race for ultimate supremacy.
