Brace yourselves: summer is coming. The annual Steam Summer Sale has begun, offering more great deals on games than you'll know what to do with.

The sale will run all the way through the end of the month, finishing on June 30. You can access the offering of games through Steam's website, or the program itself.
If you're unfamiliar, there are new games at discounted prices every day during the sale, as well as "flash sales" that are refreshed every eight hours. It pays to check back frequently because of this system--something you want may have become available for cheap, or a new deal could appeal to you enough to make a purchase.

As always, beware impulse buys that you won't have time to get around to--anyone who has participated in Steam sales before knows that the games can pile up more quickly than they can be played.
The sale is launching with some pretty big names at as much as 80 percent off. The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition, a fantastic game, is just $3.99, while Far Cry 3 is 75 percent off at $7.49. The great indie title Don't Starve is $3.74, and strategy game XCOM: Enemy Unknown is $8.49.
Most interesting is probably a pre-purchase offer for Dead Rising 3, which has yet to release on PC. Normally $50 to order, it's available today for $37.49--a deal worth jumping on if you were interested in the zombie-killing game on PC following its Xbox One exclusive launch.
Those aren't the only games available, so head to Steam to see the full selection. Keep checking back for an offer that piques your interest--and try not to go crazy out there.
