Bungie released a new gameplay trailer at E3 for their highly anticipated, post-Halo action sci-fi next-gen game Destiny and man alive, it is something to behold.
Godfire: Rise of Prometheus Will Bring Next Gen Action To Your Phone
The trailer opens with a cinematic giving viewers a brief overview of the world you'll get to play around in. The images are crisp and photorealistic. Maybe that's real rain they are showing, or maybe it's fully CGI render, I honestly don't know because it looks utterly astounding. Afterwards, Bungie's co-founder Jason Jones narrates the rest of the trailer in his sweet timbre, outlining some of the various game modes, abilities and extensive customizations your character, a Guardian, will encounter during your playtime.
Jones guides us through the ruined planet Earth and the last human city, The Tower, while epic, sweeping music plays on in the background. But we aren't here for that. Then, the action begins and for the next five minutes, Destiny lures you in with incredible, quick and brutal action the likes of which is sure to show off the next-gen consoles graphic capabilities.
Next Gen Diablo III Will Have Shadow Of The Colossus And The Last Of Us DLC
Unsurprisingly, the game looks incredible. The cinematic is photorealistic, of course, but the in game engine is no slouch either. The world is full of incredible detail and will be open to exploration should you decide to take a little breather away from laying waste to an entire species.
Also shown are the Public Events, which are random acts, usually an alien invasion, that just happen out of nowhere on the particular "server". The game operates on a "shared world shooter" design, which is similar to an MMO but smaller in scope. Players will be matched with level and skill appropriate other players with whom they can interact with or not.
Building up your own character via the expansive customization process is a major component to the Destiny. Even better, though, is the ability to take that Guardian character and set him or her against other players in Destiny's Crucible multiplayer, which is just an ominous sounding name for anything.
Jones then teases something called The Vault of Glass, which would appear to be some major end game content that only the strongest can hope to survive. It is, in Jones' own words, "the most challenging experience we've ever created." How long do you think it will take to be beaten? Less than 24 hours?
