Not that I'm incredibly biased (and let's face it, we all are just a little bit), but Sony won E3 2014 solely because they had the good fortune of showing gameplay footage for NeatherRealm Studio's Mortal Kombat X. If you thought the game's reveal trailer was something, well, buckle up spanky, you ain't seen nothin' yet.
Two New Mortal Kombat X Character Reveals Coming At E3 Says 'Kreator' Ed Boon
As MK and NeatherRealms' man upstairs Ed Boon promised, the gameplay also showed off two new brawlers for the fighter who join longtimers Sub-Zero and Scorpion. While their identities are not yet known, the footage confirmed a lot of what the game's official reveal had us suspecting, with fighters bouncing off of and swinging from interactive environments a la Injustice: Gods Among Us, impressive camera angles for some bone breaking X-rays, and more.
Scorpion's and Sub-Zero's old favorite special moves are still present, but with a few new improvements. For example, Sub-Zero can still make an icy clone of himself to trick jump kick favoring opponents, but now he can throw the frozen statue at wary opponents. In a similar manner, Scorpion's spear can not only drag in opponents for a closer hit, but he can use them to send a fiery burst to already impaled enemies. Expect similar upgrades for some of the game's other notable "kombatants." Just make sure you stick around 'til the end for some even more brutal finishing moves.

Mortal Kombat X is due out later this year for both current and last generation platforms: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, in addition to Windows PC. It'll be the first game in the series that'll allow players to "choose from multiple variations of each character impacting both strategy and fighting style," and possibly even the story, but more on that as additional information comes to light.
