Disney and Square Enix have released new screens for the upcoming Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX release for the PS3.
Final Fantasy III Released On Steam
The game is a remastered port of two games, Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep Final Mix, which will mark the first time both games have been available outside of Japan. The games will feature updated HD graphics and cutscenes and trophy support. Additionally, the 3DS game Kingdom Hearts Re:coded will be featured as a standalone cinematic retelling of the game and is also rerendered in HD. The Re:coded cinematic will also feature several key battles recreated as epic cutscenes.
No release has been set but the developers are aiming for sometime in 2014, which we are now nearly halfway through.
The new screenshots show off a host of the many characters featured in the game, Sora and his key blade and the rest are there, of course, but so is Stitch (from Lilo & Stitch), Maleficent and even Jack Skellington will be making an appearance. The games always struck me as a fun exercise in the notion of pantheistic solipsism, the belief that, since existence is infinite, every story ever told is happening somewhere in the uni or multi-verse. Everything you imagine, including a Disney mash-up adventure game, is true.
The series has never been a powerhouse, graphics wise, but a new render will surely make it look good on HD screens through the PS3. The original Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix was released last year and is available in all territories.
