Developer ArenaNet announced today that the Living World Season 2 of Guild Wars 2 will be starting on July 1.
Watch Dogs Posts Best First-Day Sales Of Any Game In Ubisoft's History
The first episode will release that day a post on the site reads, which will mark the beginning of a content update for the MMO. The Living World seasons are story-driven arcs that span months as the player community deals with narrative events and defeats relevant enemies.
The seasons take place alongside the normal content of the game, and you don't have to be involved. If Season 1 was any indication, though, the events in the story can have a large impact on the general game world, as the major city Lion's Arch was destroyed in the conflict.
State Of Decay Lifeline DLC Release Date And Price Announced, Coming Very Soon
The beginning of Season 2 will occur at the end of the ongoing Festival of the Four Winds, a Chinese-themed event celebrating the launch of Guild Wars 2 in China. The new narrative will deal with both the effects of losing Lion's Arch and the waking of the Elder Dragon Mordremoth.
Season 1 had a complex storyline built by events that occurred in-game culminating in the defeat of Scarlet Briar, who was responsible for the destruction of Lion's Arch. You can watch a video below of the fight against her huge Twisted Marionette enemy, which took a lot of players at once to bring down.
Events of the next season should be exciting--I can personally recommend Guild Wars 2 as a great MMO, one which does not require a subscription fee after you buy the game itself. Stay tuned for more details on Living World Season 2 as the launch date approaches.
