'Batman Arkham Knight' Gameplay Reveal: First Look At Scarecrow, Bionic Batsuit, Arkham Knight In Action, & More! [TRAILER]

First Batman: Arkham Knight Gameplay Trailer Shows and Justifies Why Rocksteady Left PS3 and Xbox 360 Behind

At long last, we finally have some gameplay footage for the closer to developer Rocksteady's bat-trilogy, Batman: Arkham Knight, and it looks phenomenal. Apart from just looking great, the footage also tosses together just about every feature of the game that the developer has shown off so far, from characters to the capabilities of the batmobile, and everything in between.

Batman: Arkham Knight Rumors Point To Jason Todd As Arkham Knight's Identity

The batsuit, the batmobile, some wonderful toys, it just goes on and on. There's also the first look at Scarecrow -- well, it's more his back than anything else, but those terrifying needle fingers look as terrifying as ever -- and an astonishing close up of the burned visage that gives Two Face his namesake, showing how impressive Unreal Engine 3 can be, and why Rocksteady opted to leave the PS3 and Xbox 360 out of the Arkham Knight equation.

The Gordons (James and Barbara) can also be seen throughout, hinting at a heavier involvement in Arkham Knight than in previous games. And last but not least, we finally get to see and hear the game's titular villain in action.

Words can't do this footage justice, so do yourself a favor and watch it below.

Despite the plots of all the previous games pointing to an eventual plot twist, Rocksteady is still insisting on the Scarecrow as the game's major villain. A video summation described the plot as being centered around the lanky psychiatrist "with a scheme to unite the Rogues Gallery and destroy the Batman once and for all. As the citizens of Gotham flee and criminal gangs take control of the city, Batman evens the odds taking to the streets in the legendary Batmobile to ignite the fight that will decide the future of the city that he is sworn to protect."

"Unite the Rogues Gallery," eh? That's a lot of villains to choose from, and so far we've seen only five. With previous games clearing a dozen, more will no doubt be revealed before the game releases.

Batman: Arkham Knight is set to release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One later this year.
